Accessibility statement
Bookkeeping is hard enough without the software getting in the way. We want everyone to be able to run their company books with NeatBeans, however they use the web.
Our standard
- We design and test NeatBeans to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, which also covers WCAG 2.1 AA.
- This applies to our website and to the NeatBeans app, including invoices, expenses, banking, reports and VAT returns.
What you can expect
- Every page and form works with a keyboard alone, with a clear focus outline so you always know where you are.
- Text and controls meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1. If a company picks a brand colour that is too pale to read on documents, we swap in NeatBeans purple automatically.
- Pages use proper headings, landmarks and labelled form fields, so screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver can find their way around.
- You can zoom to 200% or use a small screen without losing content or features.
- Errors are explained in words, never by colour alone, and a skip link takes you straight to the main content.
- We write in plain UK English and keep accounting jargon to a minimum.
Things we are still improving
- Some third-party tools, such as the live chat window and services you connect yourself, are built by other companies and may not fully meet the same standard.
- Generated PDF documents are tidy and readable, but they are not yet fully tagged for screen readers. The same details are always available on screen in the app.
This statement was prepared on 19 Oct 2026 and is reviewed whenever we make significant changes to NeatBeans.
